About the Arc of King County(ARC)

The Arc of King County's Mission: "Advocating the right of children and adults with developmental disabilities to live, learn, work, and play in the community -- improving the quality of life for us all."

Founded in 1936, the Arc of King County plays a leadership role in promoting civil rights and self-sufficiency for people with Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation, and other similar conditions. The Arc works with adults living in their own homes, families of newborns and school-age children, senior parents, homeless people with disabilities, school and health care professionals, culturally diverse communities, immigrants and refugees. Services include parent training, one-to-one problem solving, information and referral phone line, life skills training, future planning, support groups, public advocacy, and an innovative web site with a comprehensive resource guide on disabilities.
